The Ranking System used here was designed by Avalon Development and is a subjective method of comparing mineral properties based on qualitative and quantitative information available in the public domain. The Red Dog(*) and Pogo(**) deposits are included in the comparison to underscore the fact that all methods of ranking mineral properties are based on information that is known, as opposed to what might actually be true but is presently unknown. As a consequence, neither Red Dog nor Pogo would rank high on a comparison scheme prior to their reserves being discovered. The moral? The current property rank does not necessarily have anything to do with the property's ultimate potential. Only the expenditure of effort and capital can determine the property's ultimate worth.

1 : Favorable geology or recon geochemistry. 1 : Previous mineralization unknown. 1 : Poor, air transportation only.
2 : Anomalous soils. 2 : Historic placer production. 2 : Difficult, water or air transportation only.
3 : Anomalous rocks and soils. 3 : Historic lode production. 3 : Reasonable air or water transportation.
4 : Some promising drilling. 4 : Nearby lode resource/production. 4 : Reasonable road system.
5 : Drill resource in place. 5 : On-site lode resources/production. 5 : Excellent road system.
