National
Instrument (NI) 43-101
Standards of Disclosure for Mineral Projects
National
Instrument (NI) 43-101 is a direct result of a series of mineral exploration frauds
perpetrated on the public in the late 1990's. During that period certain companies
and individuals disclosed fraudulent, inaccurate, misleading and/or incomplete
information upon which the investing public relied. The results included massive
losses, lawsuits and a rapid contraction of the Canadian equity markets.
Federal and provincial regulatory agencies in Canada determined that a national
standard must by put into place for technical data presented by public companies
operating on Canadian stock exchanges. On February 1, 2001, NI43-101 went into
effect for all corporations listed on public exchanges in Canada. The purpose
of NI43-101 is to force all public-listed companies to submit geological reports,
whether oral or written, in a standard format. NI43-101 also dictates certain
standards of technical competence along with full and complete presentation of
technical data.
The author of any report which is intended to qualify for NI43-101 standards must
be an engineer or geoscientist with at least 5 years experience, must have knowledge
or experience relevant to the subject matter and must be a member in good standing
of a self-regulating professional association. Such a person, known as the Qualified
Person, must warrant the accuracy and completeness of such reports and retains
professional responsibility for the contents of the report.
Avalon Development Corporation wrote its first NI43-101 compliant report in April
2001 and since then has written numerous other NI43-101 reports for companies
listed on various Canadian stock exchanges. Our ties to the American Institute
of Professional Geologists (AIPG) and our 17 years of Alaskan mineral industry
experience make us uniquely qualified to complete NI43-101 compliant reports for
our clients. If you are in need of reports that must meet NI43-101 standards,
contact us and we can help you satisfy these demanding standards.
The
System for Electronic Document Analysis and Retrieval, or "SEDAR"
is a web-based clearinghouse where the public can review and retrieve documents
filed by public companies listed on Canadian stock exchanges. This site is now
posting technical reports on mining properties on its website, http://www.sedar.com.
Several Alaska prospects are listed by SEDAR including the Rock Creek, Nome Gravel,
Divide and Bulk Gold prospects in the Nome District, the Donlin Creek, Pebble
and Shotgun prospects in southwestern Alaska, the Golden Summit project in the
Fairbanks District and the Union Bay project in southeastern Alaska. The Sedar
website has altered its lookup and data review policies such that you will need
to follow their website links to obtain correct information for the below (and
